Clarithromycin 250mg (potency)
- Indication
-Pharyngitis/Tonsillitis due to Streptococcus pyogenes (The usual drug of choice in the treatment and prevention of streptococcal infections and the prophylaxis of rheumatic fever is penicillin administered by either the intramuscular or the oral route. Clarithromycin is generally effective in the eradication of S. pyogenes from the nasopharynx; however, data establishing the efficacy of clarithromycin in the subsequent prevention of rheumatic fever are not available at present).
-Acute maxil
- Dosage & Administration
-Usual Dosage: Adult- 1 tablet each time, twice a day,
Duration: 7~14 days
-Mycobacterium infection: 2 tablets each time, twice a day,
Duration: do not over 14 days
Should be administrated with other anti-mycobacterial agent (i.e., ethambutol, clofazimine, rifampin, etc).
-H.pyroli infection: 3 times a day, 2 tablets each time for 14 days with omeprazole 40mg once a day for 28 days
- Older than 12 years : Same as adult
~< 12 years : Use Clarithromycin dried syrup
